The proverbial closure

The concept of closure is often seen as a necessity in our lives, especially after going through a difficult or traumatic experience. It is the idea that we need to put a period at the end of a sentence, to tidy up loose ends, so that we can move on with our lives. We often hear people say they need “closure” when a relationship ends or when they lose a loved one. However, closure can be elusive, and sometimes it’s impossible to find or achieve.

Closure can come in many forms, such as writing a letter to someone who has hurt us, having a conversation with a loved one before they pass away, or even just taking some time to process our emotions and come to terms with what has happened. However, sometimes we may tirelessly search for closure and never find it. Closure is not always a guarantee, and we should come to terms with the fact that some situations may never be fully resolved. It’s important to understand that we can still move forward in our lives, even without the closure we may have been hoping for.

Ultimately, closure is about finding peace within ourselves. It’s about being able to come to a place of acceptance and find a way to move forward. While it may bring some relief to finally get closure, it’s important to remember that it’s not always necessary to be completely healed or to have all the answers in order to move on. Instead, we can find ways to cope with the situation at hand and use it as an opportunity for growth and reflection.
